IronRidge Inc., a manufacturer of solar mounting products, today announced the confirmation of its Integrated Grounding System by the Los Angeles County Department of Public Works for bonding solar modules to UL2703.

Craig Carni, Chief Technology Officer and Founder of IronRidge, stresses the value of the collaboration with LA County in order to be able to avoid significant long-term safety risks: “IronRidge was the first solar mounting manufacturer to offer an integrated grounding solution to the market. Installers love it because it’s easy to install, and now, inspectors and residents in LA County can fully embrace these time- and cost-saving benefits.

“LA County Department of Public Works is committed to public safety above all else.” states Mostafa Kashe, Chief Electrical Inspector of the Los Angeles County Department of Public Works. “By working closely with me and inspector David Bertrams, IronRidge has forged a new template for designing and evaluating electrical grounding systems for solar applications.”

About IronRidge’s Integrated Grounding System
The Integrated Grounding System bonds solar module frames directly to IronRidge XR Rails, eliminating the need for separate module grounding parts and procedures. The heart of the system is the Grounding Mid Clamp, which uses “teeth” to pierce through the anodized coatings of both the module frame and the XR Rail. This forms a secure electrical bond that is repeated throughout the array. The IronRidge Integrated Grounding System has been tested and listed for bonding and grounding, to UL 2703 by Intertek, a Nationally Recognized Testing Laboratory (NRTL).
