Sean McDonald – Chief Executive Officer

Sean McDonald has been with IronRidge since 2011. Prior to that, he worked for 17 years in the automotive industry, where he quickly moved from an engineering role to taking on responsibility for Product Management and Business Development. While working at Delphi, he focused his talents on the value analysis of Delphi’s technology. 

Wanting to make a positive social impact, Sean spent two years travelling the world before returning to the United States with the intention of joining the renewable energy sector. He quickly grew into key leadership positions after joining as the company’s first account manager. As the Vice President of Sales and Marketing – his most recent role before becoming CEO – Sean spearheaded the development of the company’s channel strategy and management of distribution partners.  

Sean is deeply passionate about upholding IronRidge’s company culture and core values and is committed to Make Solar Stronger™. He holds a Master of Business Administration degree and Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from the Rochester Institute of Technology. When he’s not at work, Sean enjoys spending time with his wife and young son, hiking, skiing, tennis, and is a vintage foreign car enthusiast.  

Jim Clark – Chief Financial Officer 

Jim Clark is responsible for ensuring that the IronRidge team, board of directors, and investors all share a consistent and credible view of the company’s operations, resources, scalability, outlook, and financial strategy. Jim’s expertise is broad in scope and his team is responsible for the following functional areas: Financial Planning, Reporting & Analysis, Accounting, Business Intelligence, Customer Service, Human Resources, Legal, and Facilities Management.  

Prior to joining IronRidge, Jim served as CFO for over 30 years with rapidly growing companies—both public and private—in the high-tech hardware, software, and SaaS spaces. He led the successful IPO of Netopia, an internet router company, as well as several rounds of investment and M&A at companies including Critical Path, Definitive Partners, Diversified Healthcare, StellarNet, and Integral Systems. Jim has also worked with diverse early-stage companies and complex projects at Kranz & Associates, where he was recognized as one of the Bay Area’s Top 10 CFO Consultants. Jim is a CPA and holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from California State University, Chico. 

Rich Laing – Vice President of Sales & Marketing  

Rich Laing joined the IronRidge sales team in 2014 and has since grown into a crucial leadership role as the Vice President of Sales & Marketing. Rich is responsible for setting strategy for customer-facing functions, guiding go-to-market initiatives, and synthesizing feedback from partners & installers into cohesive business development plans. He also leads the Sales & Marketing departments with a focus on ongoing coaching and education, team empowerment, and cross-functional collaboration. 

Before joining IronRidge, Rich worked in his family’s business from the age of fourteen, eventually spending 17 years as the Vice President of Laing Industries Inc. Rich holds a Bachelor of Business Administration from St. Bonaventure University. When he’s not working to Make Solar Stronger™, Rich shares his love and knowledge of home décor and mid-century design as a partner in the Super/Simple retail store.
